MADE FROM 100% ORGANIC FAIRTRADE COTTON
100% Fairtrade Cotton
Buying products made from Fairtrade cotton ensures that our farmers receive a fair and stable price for their cotton giving them and their families security and stability. Through Fairtrade, thousands of cotton farmers have already improved their lives. Cotton co-operatives have become better organised and women are receiving the same treatment as men, from voting rights to equal pay.
The Fairtrade mark means that the cotton in our products has been produced by farmers that meet the Fairtrade social, economic and environmental standards. These standards include protection of workers’ rights and the environment, payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium which always has to be invested back in community projects.
WHY USE ORGANIC COTTON?
Organic cotton is a natural fibre which is much softer than conventional cotton. This is because the fibres have not been broken down by harsh chemicals and pesticides. Using organic cotton benefits both cotton producers and the environment by avoiding these harmful chemical. Plus non-organic cotton cotton is a huge source of environmental pollution and uses thousands of chemicals which ends up in the very fabric that we put right next to our skin every day.
Conventionally grown cotton occupies only 3% of the world’s farmland but uses 25% of the world’s chemical pesticides.
When you buy a baby teresa piece you will always be buying an organic product where no harmful chemicals such as chlorine bleach, formaldehyde or dangerous dyes are used. This means our clothes are softer and better for babies, particularly those with allergies or eczema. 100% Organic is a natural way to alleviate some skin conditions, as it enables you to avoid allergens. Incredibly soft and gentle to the touch, the gentle chemical free processing leaves it substantially stronger and more durable than conventionally grown cotton garments.
WHAT IS GOTS?
The GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard – is the highest standard of certification in the world for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well. All baby teresa garments are certified through our supplier by GOTS.
